Bishop Dr. Charles Rodgers
Bishop Dr. Charles Rodgers is a pastor, educator, author, and community leader whose life’s work has been devoted to strengthening the influence of the Black Church as a vital force for spiritual transformation, social engagement, and community advancement. For more than three decades, he has challenged congregations to move beyond the walls of the sanctuary and actively address the educational, economic, and social issues affecting the communities they serve.
It’s been more than 30 years ago that Dr. Rodgers answered God's call to move to the city of Huntsville Alabama and establish Hope Community Church. What began as a small gathering of six people has grown into a thriving ministry that has impacted thousands throughout North Alabama and beyond. Guided by a commitment to “win the lost at any cost,” he has built a ministry that combines biblical teaching with practical outreach, demonstrating the enduring relevance of the Church in contemporary society.
Throughout his ministry, Dr. Rodgers has been a passionate advocate for preserving the historic role of the Black Church as both a spiritual anchor and a catalyst for community change. His leadership has fostered partnerships with schools, businesses, civic organizations, and community leaders to expand educational opportunities, support families, and address pressing social concerns. Through preaching, teaching, writing, and community development, he has consistently encouraged the Church to remain engaged in the challenges facing future generations.
An accomplished educator and speaker, Dr. Rodgers holds degrees in Business Administration, Elementary Education, Religious Education, and a Doctor of Ministry in Pastoral Leadership. He has served as an Adjunct Professor at Birmingham Theological Seminary and has mentored pastors and ministry leaders across the country. Dr. Rodgers is the author of several influential books, including Delivered, But Damaged, Delivered but Damaged II, When you are Dropped by what was Suppose to Protect You. His work continues to inspire readers and leaders to embrace faith as a foundation for personal growth, community renewal, and lasting impact.
Dr. Rodgers and his wife, Lady Carlett Rodgers, have shared over four decades of marriage and ministry. Together they are the proud parents of two children, Tiffani and Ryan.
